I guess if you're looking for pure aesthetics, you could go one further and get a FMIC sticker and put it behind the grille for like $40. I think for a medium to semi-high end setup, the tCarbon will suit you fine.

If it completely filled up the grille and you couldn't see anything but the center of the core... people WOULD think it was a radiator. lol Since they wouldn't be able to see any hoses or end caps.

just my $.02
tCarbon compared to the Forge--
Price-wise (new), there's a clear advantage. Advantage tCarbon.
Performance-wise, probably a minimal difference.
Fitment- tCarbon requires to delete the aliens. Advantage Forge.
R&D- No contest, advantage Forge.
Aesthetics- No contest, advantage Forge.

If there weren't any used Forge FMICs floating around the market (people de-modding their cars), I'd be more in favor of the lower cost alternative. I guess, if you get lucky, you get lucky.

the tCarbon vs. Forge debate can be compared to lets jus say...

diode mod vs. chipping

they serve the same/similar purpose, but once againit goes down to getting the most bang for you buck vs. aesthetics.

You're right, very similar. Especially when it comes to R&D time, etc.

I didn't have to remove my aliens.
I DID remove my aliens after I took everything apart again. I was trying to mod them to spray my intercooler though. lol
As for the lower grille, I gave it away for free to one of the guys on here because I really didn't want it anymore. That wasn't a fitment issue.
Btw... it took me just under 3 hours for the entire install of the tCarbon one. (that's with the fact that I have NEVER pulled my bumper in the past either.) Plus,

if you were to compare the tCarbon to a USED Forge... definitely go with the forge. I think the biggest drawback of the forge is the price. Otherwise... the two intercoolers really aren't that much different.

You want a nice small turbo, get a t3 60 trim kit. Spools almost like stock and can make up to 300whp
Cincy is this what you mean?

Just ask them how their 1.8t fwd upgraded smic went. If the point was to perform worse than stock, then they succeded. The sad part is that people still sell/buy them.

ok here is the response i got from Tcarbon on the FMIC 180HP Quattro

The product doesn't have a description or pictures because the kit isn't officially launched to the public. We're currently working on the instructions which is why the other information hasn't been added to the site. The 180 and 225 kit is very different since the 225 has a different turbo, and a completely different tubing set-up.
