sway bar bushing help
I'm getting tired of this damn creaking every time I go over a big bump. I've tried lubing them, but that only helps for a day or two.
My questions are:
1. I see that the TT 225 could have possibly come with two different sizes of sway bars (19 or 20mm?). How do I know which one I have?
2. Do I need to disconnect the sway bar linkage to get the bushings on?
3. What kind of lube is recommended for long term?
Thanks,
Ian

RE: sway bar bushing help
silicon is what you need ( most people use WD40 and it doesnt last so its a short term fix ) this problem is common with newer cars because of the short suspension layout and lack of movement ) its a price for performance cars

RE: sway bar bushing help
I got some silicone spray lube, but it didn't last but a day or two. I think the problem is that they are worn and need to be replaced :-)
I'm looking around at some bushings, but i'm so confused. Some sites only have 19 and 20mm listed, but othershave only 20 and 21mm listed. ECS tuning says that the 20mm are for sway bars after a certain date in 2004 which would definitely not be mine.

I think that the stock size is 14mm. Thats probabaly why you are getting confused. Aftermarket is 19mm and on. Here is a link for grease nipples for your bushings. http://public.fotki.com/mcphill/audi..._anti-swaybar/ I hope that worked for you. New to this. I think that he hasnt touched it since though. So maybe the tape and probably more so the channel that was put in there was more than enough to take care of the squeaking. Hope this helps.

RE: sway bar bushing help
I have the same problem and it drives me crazy! All I need to do is replace the bushings, right? And is this something Icould fix or should I just take it to the dealership and let them deal with it? Keep in mind that I've had the car for about 5 months and the most technical thing I've done is replace a park lamp light bulb, lol.
