Hey guys,

I bought a new starter off of ebay about 7 months ago and had it installed at a shop. - The starter is making noise as did the first one. - A) Could this be because the starter I installed was made wrong/cheaply? B) Could it have been installed wrong? C) Could there be something else wrong with my car that would cause the car to have the same issue? - Or is it just the luck of the draw?

When you start the car it makes a griding noise because the starter isn't releasing when it starts. - It isn't effecting the clutch/flywheel its just the starter... it doesn't disengage properly.

 

Yeah that sounds like a crappy starter to me, there are problems with the ground cable off the battery coming apart but that would just cause the starter to click once. So i would say get another starter, (a good one this time) [8D]

 

I think I'm starting to get the same problem. Would you be able to record and post it? I would like to hear what yours sounds like so I could compare it to mine.

Do you know how much it will cost to get the starter replaced? (Labor/Time wise)

-Also any suggestions with the exception of the dealership would you suggest I buy a new starter? - I'd prefer not to spend $450 on one at the dealer.

 

why not just let it be?

 

The noise is a bit embarassing when I start it up.
