Default Stalling on first key turn

I have a '02 225 Roadster and every once in a while, only after a full night or two of sitting, it will just sputter and stall the first time trying to start it. After that it starts and runs perfectly. I've seen no puff of smoke or anything during the first try. I took it to my dealer and they replaced some vacuum hoses and a valve, but it's still doing it. I just wanted to see if this is a common issue. I've already got a second appointment at my dealer to have it looked at again.

Had that problem, replaced plugs, and ran some fuel injector cleaner, and that helped. Also helps if you turn the key to 'on', wait for the 'ok' from the instrument cluster, and then start the car. Gives the fuel pump time to pressurize the line.

I currently have the same problem and I have a 1 year old battery in the car, so I doubt it's my battery. I have no idea what the problem is though. When you find out let us know.

is the battery one year old or has it been sat on a shelf for one year before you go it, check it regardless

The fuel pumps in all Auidi's only turn on when the car is being cranked, so just having the key in the "ON" position will not run the pump

For the OP, is there a yellow light that comes on after or before the car dies??

I have had my battery replaced too after a hort period. The dealer told me the batteries in these cars dont really last long so even if its only a year old it could still be going bad.

Same prob.. would stall on cold start once in a while. Took it to the dealer, they replaced the coil packs. I heard there was a TSB on those anyway, so you may wanna get that checked as well.

This thread is kinda funny, everyone seems to have a different solution, lol

Auditech, whats that hum that you get when you turn the key to on, even w/ radio and climate turned off? I assumed (after hearing it from somebody on AW) it was the fuel pump pressurizing the system.
