Because those turbos are another $800 + will need rods to make the same power.
explain a little...whats the boost levels and power band like with the t3/t4 vs gt 2871r and gt3071

also are the lines for the k04 smaller...my question is why cant you use the stock water lines for the new turbo....i know they have different fittings but still no adapters? (talking about the GT series cuz they have the hook ups for water cooled)

We on stock rods, the gt3071 would need to be limited to around 20-22psi on a 225 and the 2871r can run 26psi like APR does. The quick spool and torque spikes are rough on stock rods. Now the 50trim has a more gradual torque curve since its a journal bearing turbo. Also the 50trim is about the same rating as a gt3071r, so with it will be able to boost more than a gt3071r and make more power than the 2871r. Basically put, the torque curves look like this

gt turbo = _I
journal = _/

you get the idea. Hit up the dyno thread in the 1.8t section stickies

the stock water lines are all hard lines to the turbo. Plus they go to differnt parts of the turbo and the turbo is in a differnt place. The oil lines look like -4 but again, fixed due to being hardlines.
