Wow! Not even the belts last!
That's an awful lot of missing teeth!

my timing belt went out when i was driving also, i was doing about ten mile an hour. I towed it to the shop an it was 5,138 to get it fixed. Most of my valves where bent and the had to send the heads to get rebuilt. Also the water pump broke into some pieces for some reason. There where many problems that went with it. They also said that the fuel pump is a must to replace when the engine is rebuilt after something like that, thats just what they told me.

Doubtful that the fuel pump would be damaged by the timing belt. On older cars the fuel pump used to be mechanical, but with the fuel pump on the TT being electric and sitting back inside the fuel tank, the mechanic was definitely looking to sneak a few more $$$ into the repair.

The stock water pump's impellers are plastic, so that was probably broken months beforehand.

isn't it true that pumps are most likely to fail after they have been idle for a long time and have dried out? i am speaking generally about liquid pumps. perhaps it was for that reason that they wanted to replace it...still seems fishy to me too.

i am about 1/2 way through the disassembly stage of my head right now.. i will post pics once i have something to look at.. I stripped an allen bolt during the disassembly of the head cover and now i have to deal with that before i can proceed... i got annoyed and decided i would resume it later on.

its always best to go back in with a clear head. when something like that hits, i to get frustrated and makes working much harder.
