RE: So I just got my K03 replaced with a K04
Im not BSing this haha i gave them the turbo from the 225
and said i wanted mine replaced with it since my turbo was going out and told them to call me if it doesnt fit so i can get or order the proper parts to make it fit once they knew what Id need to make it happen.
They took the turbo and the car and the next day told me i didnt need any extra parts because the turbo I gave them was a direct bolt on.

THis is a ko3s
Ko4-20 from a 225
And since im lazy, a ko3 and ko4-001 both are like the ko3s in the first pic, however the ko3 has a 12blade compressor wheel and both dont have the muffler on the compressor cover. Obviously the ko4-20 does NOT fit on a 180 w/o the manifold and dp (or custom for a fwd) since the ko4-20 turbine exits the side and the ko3/ko4-001 towards the bottom

RE: So I just got my K03 replaced with a K04
yea I never saw the turbo in my car but the one I took out of the junk one was the K04 you're showing me in the second photo
except a tad bit dirtier haha but definitely the K04 because I was joking around with my dad and telling my dad the turbo looked like a **** and ***** from that angle haha
But yea I called the shop and the guy said that to the best of his knowledge he remembered both turbos being exactly alike
didnt ask him what the turbos looks like exactly though because i didnt know the visual design difference between the K03's and K04's when i asked earlier
and i know my cars a 180 TT Q or suppose to be
so im now wondering if the former owner did anything to the car?
I mean he did have it for 62,000 miles of the beginning of its life

RE: So I just got my K03 replaced with a K04
that has nothing to do with the turbo though so why ask
all that would do is show if I was an actually complete dumb *** who didnt know that all the 180 TT's had 5 sps and all the 225 and 3.2 V6 Audi TT's had 6 spds
I know my cars was made as a 180 TT Quattro
because its a 2000, which is the biggest give away because the 225 wasnt on the market yet here in the states

Just making sure. Its starting to sound like the previous owner all ready changed out to a ko4-20 kit. Hopefully they did it right and you have a tune, maf, and 380cc injectors

If the oil seal breaks, you get a **** load of smoke. This happens with lots of wear or to muchoil pressure. But the stock lines wont create to much oil pressure. Could happen with a twisted or kinked return line also
