Should you hear spooling and blow off on a stocker?
2001 225QC - Stock with a super duper K&N air filter
Is it normal that I hear the turbo spooling, it's very noticable. When low in gear, when I start to hear spool, I'll lift off the gas and hear a faint "whoooosh". If this is not normal, can it be a boost leak?
Thanks,

The 180 only was noticable at low speed and high load, like starting up a hill. The 225 is especially loud before its warmed up, but still noticable enough that people turn their heads when they hear it spool. Only thing modified on my engine at this point is a 007 DV, and most of the engine plastics gone, including the belly pan and the side covers (really should replace the one covering the serp belt though). Those missing might be the cause of my level of noise.

yeah my 225 was almost totally silent until i added the dahlback DV, the neuspeed intake, and the AWE boost gauge. now i hear it loud as hell all the time, and i actually love the way it sounds. you get to hear the beast "breathing" =) most of the sound comes from the outside but i hear it roaring thru the vent that has the AWE gauge in it....

Best compliment EVAR: "Thats kinda like sex." My cousins wife, flushed in the face, after hotrodding around the block a couple times in the TT. Took all day to get her to drive it, she insisted her honduh was quick, and it'd be no big deal driving my car.
Mmmm, wrong. : )
