shift knob idea

I did my homework when I decided to do this. The ball Is made of Phenolic resin, and is probably the most durable material used on the inside of the TT(2nd to the aluminum). The guy at the billiard supply says that they are almost indestructible. And told me how they slam them into the ground, and throw them down the street. Also, the resin will keep that perfect mirror black shine im looking for. Its a little bit bigger than the stock shifter(not buy 2 much). It is considerably heavier tho. As for the hardware, Im going to cannibalize my stock shifter. Im going to use the threaded insides(epoxied on the inside of the ball), and the 6 spd gear pattern from the top of my stock ****. Im having the hole drilled tomorrow at the bowling alley. the haters and nay sayers can talk all they want. If I do this right, it should come out awesome. And I will have spent under $15 for a nice shifter that will probably outlast my car. For those of you who are actually interested, I will get info and pics up as soon as I have some to share.

no, haven't gotten to it. Just got done getting my spacing right. 2 many projects at one time. I was actualy thinking about this today. I'm going to try and bring the ball to the bowling alley tomorrow to get the hole drilled. If anyone can do it, it's one of those guys. I just need to make sure I have the right specs. Someone posted them on this thread i think. "Failure is not an option" LOL

DONE! I like i alot. Its a little bigger than the stock shifter(not by 2 much). It is heavier tho. but it makes the shifts seem very positive. I took out the aluminum tube and the plastic connected to it. Im sure some of you arent going to like it, but I think I did very well for $11 =P

thanks, Im going to be taking off the shift ring, grab triangles, stereo door, ebrake button, inside door handles, glove box trim, cup holders, and maybe a couple more little pieces. and sending them to murderface for powdercoat. his prices are more than reasonable, so I might as well make sure the black that I put in hear is durable. paint is too much prep time. And too delicate.
