Default Ross-tech Vag Com Key-USB vs. Portable Vag

I’ve only owned my car for a few weeks now and a few days ago I had an air bag light come on. So Instead of paying audi $115 to do a diagnostic I’m going to go ahead and buy a vag com. Right now I’m looking at the Ross tech KEY-USB and there is a portable one that a guy sells on the forums by the name of remembertofocus for the same price. I’ve done a little bit of research and it seems to me that it might have more features. I know there are some A4 guys raving about it but have any of you TT guys used it?

Here is a pic. If that helps

Thanks Layne

They have vag scanners on ebay that pretty much do vag-com. I'm thinking about getting one of those.

VAG_COM has the added benefit of letting you run logs of every input that the ECU receives as well as scan/reset. If you are going to get into any mods, DIY work, etc you are better off spending the $$$ on Vag-Com.

Get the real deal VAG-COM FTW!!! you can do so much with vagcom there is no way I would go with anything else. the other ones out there will do the basics but if you ever get into doing indepth tuning/modding you will be much happier spending the 250 for the real deal. Not to mention you can always make a carputer like many people out there have if you are looking for a compact unit.

supposably that palm can do everything a vag can.. it can log data, scan, clear codes ect. ect. Some guys on here where saying you can even mod with it???? Ex. fog light mod, security sensiblity. If anyone is interested in this just search his name (Remembertofocus)im sure you will find him. Is a KEY-USB sufficent if im going to be getting in to moding because there is models going on up to like $800-$900??

The liquid is a very cool gauge (much more than a gauge) But IMO a full version of Vagcom is still a necessity for any do it yourselfer. The liquid is on my list of things I want but for now my Keyusb does the trick. One thing for instance you can adapt/immobilize new ecu's to your car with vagcom which I am pretty sure you cannot do with any other. I am selling/trading my chipped ecu for a stock ecu and vagcom is necessary to do the swap. Oh and to the OP yes Key-usb will have everything the other ones have the difference in the high end ones is they are compatible with more vehicles. Check rosstech's website for your year car to be sure though.

WEll im not concerned with fault codes since i have an autozone 500 ft away from me.......and alot of people get Vag com ....like myself to check knock sensor readngs and timing pull when running BT high boost conditions which the liquid TT unfortunately cannot do
