On the Road Again!
She is up and running, with a bunch of new stuff. Kinda loud with the new free flowing intake, but oh well. The TT sounds kinda mean nowand I'm just happy to have her back.
Got the timing belt, water pump, intake, turbo inlet andspark plugs done today and called it a day. Turns out my waterpump was completely demolished, I'll post some pics of why metal impellers are better later.
Still have to do an oil change, two CV boots, an intercooler fogger, methanol injection, and Sirius radio install. Put in about 6 hours today, I'll take care of the rest later this week.

Cant say for sure yet, it was parked so long that the battery was completely drained so the ECM is completely reset(boost was all over the place for the first 5 miles and the miles to empty is still jumping all over as the car adjusts). I'll have a better idea after I put more miles on it and the ECM readapts all my maps to the new parts and my driving habits. I only put 15 miles on to charge the battery back up. Idles smooth as butter though, and they are an easy install and perfect fit if you're thinking about a set. No misfires or engine codes or anything (not that there was before).
Feels a little sluggish in the top still, but the bottom end power is strong. Temperature gauge doesnt BUDGE once I hit running temp. Radiator fans work again after swapping to the greentip coolant sensor. Turbo spool and DV noiseis greatly increased especially since I cut the last 8-10 inches of the hood seal off to cowl some cool air to the filter. No boost leaks. I'll have a better comparison on the power after I get 75 or so miles on it and everything is adapted.
I do have torn CV boots on the drivers side outer and passenger side inner front axles that will be addressed soon. Also a slow oil leak from the drain plug gasket, but that will be fixed monday afternoon with an oil change. Other then those small issues the only other issue is a dying cluster, but that will taken care of when I find a suitable replacement from a warranty trade in. All in all everything looked pretty good for an 82k mile Audi. Up until today I only had it on a floor jack and stands so this was my first good chance to put it on a lift and really inspect it.
My welder got a chance to see what we need to do to get an exhuast under her. We decided to utilize most of the downpipe (for now) and just cut it off right before the split for the catsto run an open exhuast and reuse the OEM tip to keep it looking stock. We should be working on that pretty soon.
I'm just thrilled to be able to drive it again, I had alot of fun just tooling her around recharging the battery.

You wont need injectors until you put in a bigger turbo. You can pretty much max out the K03S without straining the fueling system. Plugs are probably a good idea though depending on mileage, mine looked due and it was the 2nd set according to my service records.
After getting a good look at the OEM turbo inlet you will see more gains from doinga swap for the Samco(or something similar) TIPbefore an intake. I would have taken pics to show the difference but my stock stuff went right into the '05 GTI we snatched the aftermarket stuff from and my camera wasnt there.
As far as only taking six hours, we had 4 people. Two Audi techs me and my buudy. One tech pretty much conquered the timing belt by himself (thats what I paid him for)while the rest of us tinkered with the aftermarket stuff towards the end. Then again we also did a full alignment and oil changeon a B6 S4 Avant, and put some wheel spacers on my buddies '98 ITR.
It was a good day. I also found a blown up K04-22 (225TT) in the shop that I can get rebuilt and ported for $250, so I'm gonna see if I can grab that from thetech, whos bench it was laying under, on Monday. Since Im still getting a T3/T4 I'll probably sellthe rebuilt K04to fund other aspects of my project.
P.S. I know Neuspeed isnt the best intake, but it was free in exchange for my OEM stuff. And the ECS kit comes with more new parts then you would get if you let the dealership order the stuff for you at about half the price. Plus you get a metal impeller water pump, which you wont get from Audi.

RE: On the Road Again!
I've seen afew T-Belt jobs now and have yet to see a waterpump get swapped in the shop to argue different, but I doubt it.
I could check Elsaweb for the bulletins to verify it for sure. You might be right. Either way though if you order parts from Audi instead of ECS(or dieselgeek or whoever)youre going to pay more, so its not a major point.
I think I'd sell the turbo for $500 or so. Paying $250 to get it rebuilt and ported and selling it for $250 wouldnt make much financial sense. A $250 profit would finance a custom FMIC. I could get a hotter compressor/turbine wheel put in too for a little extra.
