I brought my car to a local audi mechanic that my father knew and he disconnected the battery so now my radio says SAFE. He told me to enter my code in the manual booklet. So I followed the steps and the code wouldn't work. Someone told me I had to bring it to a dealer, is there any other way I can get my radio to work again with out the dealer charging me to reset it.

 

I had the same issue and it turned out the previous owner had a problem with the original radio and was replaced under warranty. The new security code was never written down so the old code wouldnt work. 77.00 later the dealer gave me the code and took it out of safe mode.
