Default Problemmmmm

So last night i was driving and mycar had been running a little shitty fora day. i took off and heard a popping noise. i thought it was my dp that had disconnected. cause my car got louder and sounded ike cra so i went home and didnt drive till this morning so i took it to the exhaust shop to get fixed. right of the bat the guy was like its not th exhaust is ur engine. we poped the hood with the car running and i se the spark plu shot out of the car and the coil compeletly on its side and a spark or 2 shooting out. so i ran and turned it off and the guy said the spark plug thread was striped. he said i might need a new head. im taken it to audi tomorrow what do u guys think price? time and stuff

Does not sound good. Did you get your timing belt replaced yet? I figure there has to be a reason for it to be acting the way before it was shooting sparkplugs.
New head with Audi doing labor. I can only imagine and it ain't pretty. I would venture to say 2k+ and that is if nothing else is wrong with your motor.

Damn sucks to hearI had a TB problem ended up hitting the valves total repair $2000 just for the hea.
If you do need a new head, this is a good chance to upgrade internals/ swap out for a better flowing 1.8t head.
If time/money allows you to.

Better flowing head? I thought they were pretty much all the same?? Except the 2003+ models came with VVT.

Well, if the plug is stripped, you don't necessarily have to replace the head. You can try to fix it with a Helicoil kit or the equivalent. That would be a much cheaper route to go.

VVT is for startup and has nothing to do with power or flow. The 97-99.5 AEB heads are what flows more.

Its a good time to remind people to use anti-seize on the plugs and o2 sensors.

Try to fix before replacing

I hope it doesnt cost that much to fix It really sucks. everything on my car is in mint condition. thats the first major problem its ever had. It has 158k on it and the body is perfect and the interior is spotless. Wish me luck

I'm still wondering how this happened? Did u just change your plugs and maybe didn't tighten them enough? This is something I havnt heard of before...what plugs were you running?

no anti-seize and overtightening would be a more lightly cause.
