Hello all. I am new to the Forum. I have a 2000 Audi TT that I am about to replace the steering rack in. I was just wondering if anyone has taken on this project and how long of a project I am looking at. I am not real familiar with these Audi's so I went ahead and got a repair manual. I have heard its not going to be quick or easy. Just thought I would get a few opinions. Thanks!

 

Nobody I know of here has done it, but I know theres some pics/info on the audiworld forums, I remember a guy having to replace a steering rack on there. Definately an involved project. Good luck.

 

it cant be as hard as doing a clutch on jack stands...but yea search the audiworld.com forum in the TT section and you'll find it. it doesnt seem that hard. i would do it if i had to...(although i hope i never have to lol)

Seven hours later I have a new steering rack! It was very involved but I had good help from those step-by-step directions from AW. If anyone is thinking of doing it themselves, don't be afraid. If I can do it, so can anyone else. It just takes some time. Thanks for you help!

 

Thats how most car stuff is. Break it down, and regardless of what you're doing, you're just turning wrenches.

Sometimes you just have to turn a few more wrenches. ; )
