MKI all the way!
With the amount you spend on a new MKII, you'll be able to outperform it with mods on an MKI.
Plus I prefer the look of my '00, Only thing that I know is better would be the interior.
If the new 2.0 had a manual quattro version my opinion would change.

In time there should be a turbo manual, dont think it will be a 2.0 however, nor as affordable

I'll always love the MK1, but have to admit the interior and headlights on the MK2 are pretty fancy. Doesn't mean I want one though. As a matter of fact I don't plan to ever sell my MK1. The next Audi I plan to buy will either be a Q5 or Q7; when it's time to have a family.

well the majority picks the MKI bc of price. i love my MKI but i'd much rather have the MKII

what if for example, both are brand new and both are the same price...

Where can I find a 2.2L? I've only seen 2.0L short blocks on eurospecs website.

exactly my MK1 new was 32000, the MK2 new is 35000 so really not much difference in price and a whole lot more in tech advances and performance. Match an MK1 with a MK2 with the same mods (chip, CAI, exhaust, the usual mods) and the MK2 will perform better and for only a few $$$ more. I will always love my MK1 but had to go with the new TT as it was time.
