Default POLL: MK1 or MK2

so im curious as to what you all think of the MK1 -vs- MK2?

i will personally go on record and say that i don't care for the new TT.

although it certainly is a cool car and has lots of great features, it just doesn't feel like a timeless icon the way the old one does- and if i had to go out tomorrow and pick up another TT, i would much rather have a low-mileage late-model MK1 than any MK2.

and yes, i've been to the dealership and seen lots of the new ones, and i had a friend that bought a MK2 in silver take me out in it recently, so i have definitely experienced it enough to solidify my opinion.

what say you people of audiforums? feel free to agree or flame away!! i set up a poll with a couple options to select, but please leave comments below as well....

MKII is cool, but not $35k cool, IMO. For that much, you can get something a lot cooler (XLR, Lotus, ect). It kinda reminds me of a nice sporty civic. Plus, doesen't it *almost* compare to a colbut ss?

Nah, mk1 for life. The only time I'll buy a new audi is when they get back into the HP race. I got real excited over the R4 until they axed it. Audi needs to make a 3000lb car with 300hp (or better) turbocharged from the factory in order for me to buy it. Even if it looks like a A2.

Mk I bitches.

Audi made history with the Mk I, the Mk II is just a sporty looking car.

I like them both, but i would have to stay MKI. However the new TDI 3.0 A4 would be a new audi i would buy.

If money is not the issue then the MK2 all the way. Yes the MK1 was an icon but the MK2 was never trying to be another icon, hence what is called 2nd generation. The new TT out does the old TT in all areas as they use new tech and all that. The old MK1 has the initial icon value (had a 02 TT) so I know both. The new TT IMO is more grown up and performes really well. Im hitting 0 60 in high 5.6s with a good takeoff on just a chip and exhaust. Handles better than my 02 too. I do miss my old TT and the things I did to it but totaly love the new one. TTS is going to be bitchin fast too. Oh I get 33 MPG highway too.

Just build yourself a 2.2L 1.8t and throw on a gt3076r - gt3582r and you wont give a damn about a FSI.
