Default Parallel port in hatch?

to start with, i have an '01 225Q

i seem to have a port that looks likea printer's parallel port (old style on computers) inside the hatch. it is inside that little door where you open to remove the tail light (left side). anyone know what this is? it says "G 50059" on it and "ABS" just below that (ABS referring to the type of plastic, i know, since the plastic pieces in most carsare ABS plastic).

i called up my father earlier, andhis '02 doesn't have this plug/port.

also, an unrelated question, but when you get chipped (going to do APR, since there's a place 10min away that is recommended on APR's website, $500) does the mod go away when you disconnect the battery/lose power to the ECU? explain this for me, if you could. Thanks! oh, picture of the plug/port:

Not sure what that plug is, but a chip is like saving a Word doc on your PC. When you unplug that PC, the files are still in there.

I saw the same thing in my car, in the same location, when i replaced some of my brake light bulbs. I drive a '00 180 AWD.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but some have suggested it has to do with the nav package, which makes some sense I think.

It's part of the handsfree phone setup that came as an option on the 00's and early 01's.
