why not just get the stroker kit they have for $1799 will that do you better in the long-run?

I was considering it, but i have always seen bad results with aftermarket cranks on hondas, and it doesn't make me want to jump on it with my audi now. Im kinda scared to change the crank lol.

which would be better?

replalcing the rods with the kit mentioned above

or

get the stroker kit???

That kit comes with a stock 2.0T FSI crank that is forged. The AEG crank is from a newer 2.slow engine. You can get them for about $200 used. It is cast instead of forged but since no one has broke one with power, that doesnt really matter.

Basically
2.0T stroker kit - $1600
Build your own - $1150 (AEG crank $200, scat rods $350, stroker pistons ~$600)

Add in top end kit $80 and another $80 for rod bearings and your still under the 2.0T crank. Just comes down to preferance.

after stoking it to a 2.0, what would that do performance wise if i left the head stock for now?
im just wondering if it would give me any added benefits that i dont have with the 1.8...
im just wondering if its even worth doing, although its neccessary to change rods when going with a big turbo setup.

would this stroker kit be a must do mod or a waste of money with little gain in performance?

You can leave the head stock. That will be fine for under 400whp. The increase in displacement increases base hp which leads to more power throughout the rpm band. The increase also spools up the turbo faster. With your plans of a 2871r, its not needed. Just stick with rods since the turbo spools plenty fast and makes good power. I wouldnt bother stroking it unless you plan on atleast a gt3076r or bigger.
