New TT Owner in Florida!
Hi All,
I recently purchased a 2001 Audi TTQ 225.
Bought it from Michigan.. Flew up with a friend to Flint and drove it alllll the way back down to Sunny South Florida... A whopping 21 hour drive/1400 miles.
It's black on black interior..
Rebuilt title (some of the best deals and nicest cars ive owned have been rebuilt!)
36,000 miles
Great condition!
I paid $12,000 for this sucker.
Already ordered a set of mesh wheels in 18x8 and 18x9 rear with a big lip for it.
here are the pics..

Welcome to Florida. Make sure you wait at least 6 months before you register it in Florida. If you don't the DMV will make you pay a sales tax of 7.5% of the cars value. I know what your thinking, how can they charge me sales tax on a car I bought in MI that you have already payed sales tax for?It seems to be an interstate tarrif that would be forbidden by the constitution but they will charge you anyway. I encountered this problem at the DMV but I'm showing them who's boss by not registering my car till March. Even though the car is used if you purchased it within the past 6 months the will make yo pay the tax.

What happens If I get pulled over? What would I tell the officer?
Can you cite any sources to validate thats true? I would love to save the 800 bucks Florida is going to try to gaffle me for on the taxes of this car...

The DMV website itself as well as the manager of the DMV that I spoke with. I am in theAir Force so I can keep residency in whatever state I choose regardless of where I live so I have no worries. For you though it would all depend upon your level of risk aversion. Iconsider the tax to be unconstitutional so I would avoid paying for it as they are taxing you for a sale that took place in another state outside of their jurisdiction, or essentially a tariiff on an imported good. Out of pure principle I would not pay it and if I got ticketed I would challenge in all the way to the Supreme Court but hey that's just me.
