need your opinions: should I buy now or wait
Sorry to make a thread like this but I am really in a dilemma.
I have just sold my car for $6000 and I have 9 to spend on a car. I love TT's and I know how they are not the best reliability wise which is why I am looking for one with the timing belt/water pump changed/all other things taken care of. I know blue book is unrealistic for what they actually sell for. I'm just missed a perfect one with 74k mi perfect shape for 9000. now, the only other one for 9 has 106k mi and hes pretty sure the belts been changed, since he bought it from a dealership with 80k on it last year and they did all the required matenance supposedly. Its in pretty good shape.

he emailed me many more pics and it looks to be in good shape, and he will take 9 for it.
I really need a car now with school starting back on monday, im not looking foward to having to ride the bus....so should i jump on this one and make the 8 hour drive or hold out and wait for the perfect one. Also, he says the airbag light came on at 100k exactly and just needs to be checked/reset by the dealer for 100 dollars. and the check engine light is on because it needs a lower oxygen sensor. Im not to worried about these but am i going to keep on running into small problems like this?
Your opinions?
(and please dont say buy a honda)

RE: need your opinions: should I buy now or wait
never offer the asking price try for 1k less and work to the price your comfortable but because it has a CEL on this could dramatically reduce the value depending what the problem is ( be cautious ) have it checked by your independent you could get it for a lot less

dont assume the TB has been changed. a dealer will not do this until 100k service visit. make him show you service records from HIM taking it to the dealer for 100k service or offer 1k less than what hes asking to offset the cost of getting it done yourself.

wow im looking at the pix but how in the world do you keep ur leather so clean like dat for that long... judging by the cover ... no instrumental cluster problems, nice shape, and i see a degree of it being taken care of ... but for a tt ... you should try to find one for cheaper if you only havce 9000 and then service it because im telling u .. one problem leads to many ... and it is a high maintenance car so you might want to buy other things like a VAG-COM and service manual.. do your own work to a certain extent.
small problems .. guess it depends, in my case yes, but i would def. learn how to service your own vehicle .. simple things like thermostat, timing belt etc and one thing about tt's are that you have to take care of it .. so seeing that youre a student .. idk .. im a college student and its a pain in the a-- sometimes ... but if you want that control... awesome driving experience ... my opinion is go for it... ofcourse just take these precautions ... and ask around in the forums if you run into problems... nice and smart people
anywyas if you decide to get one .. i guesss audiforums is the place to start

I'm serious when I say my car is a good deal if you want to buy it.
I've already done all the work for you. - Most of these guys are just quoting you prices for PARTS not the HUGE amount of money your going to pay for labor.
My car at $10,200 - Would be a STEAL for you.
-I've already done all the work for you PLUS mods.

BUY A RED ONE. No just kidding.
Really I would give it some time & not jump into it you can most likely find another with better miles for price. That's how I got mine about two months for waiting & looking at a varitiy of cars. Check neighboring dealerships for trade-in's & autotrader, cars.com. There's another one...

Depending on what you're looking for I wouldn't go for an $9,000 TT.
For that price, you're only gonna find a 180FWD for one, and no quattro sucks IMO and two, for a high school student, one of these cars are a potential financial pain to maintain and mod.
Also if you're just dead set on the pure head turning bling and luxury of the TT and not too concerned about performance, go for it. If you want a real sports car, you could pick up a 300ZX twin turbo for <$9000. It runs circles around the TT bone stock...runs the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile as a B5 S4.
My best friend bought one in nice shape for $7000 with nice rims and aftermarket exhaust and susp:
just for fun my photoshop of it
P.S. somebody edit this thread so it's not stretched by that link for the love of the Audi Gods!
