Default Need headlight help for an 02' TT Quattro...

Hey gang,

Here are some pics. Left and Right headlights. The right headlight has the yellow trim illuminated / lit up, but the left side (driver's side) does not light up. I need to know if it is the bulbs that I need to replace, the yellow trim pieces, or the entire headlight assembly.

Also, on the pic where I have drawn an arrow, what is that, exactly? Is it suppose to light up? Is is just a reflector of some sort?

Also need part numbers and where to buy besides the dealerships...

Thanks in advance for all help and advice

It is just the bulb inside the yellow trim piece that you need to replace. The rectangular yellow thing the arrow is pointing to is a reflector and it does not light up. I dont know the part number for the bulb becuase I always take mine to the dealer to get the bulbs replace because the headlights are a pain in the **** to get off.

Zero: thank you!

I'll get the bulbs and try to do it myself, but if no can do, the local Audi dealership is decent.

The f*ck no it isn't!

The bulb is an H6W, which is ridiculously expensive and hard to find. I paid $10 a pop when both mine went out. I think if you go to a VW dealer you can get em for $6 I've heard, it's like $12 from an Audi dealer.

To isntall it, you might have to remove the battery cover...I don't remember...but either way reach to the back of your headlight, towards the inside corner of it you should feel two little **** type things. These are the holders for your parking light and turn signal bulbs. The parking light is the one that's mounted kinda diagonal...I somehow remember finding that weird. Anyway, give it a turn, it should turn a quarter turn only, then pull it out. Twist the bulb out (it's mounted in there kinda weird, you'll figure it out) put the new one in and replace.

Found some useful stuff on Jeff Bipes' page , including links to places to get em (from an Audiworld thread):
http://www.vwparts.com/ $9.93
http://www.1stvwparts.com/ $7.84
http://www.candlepower.com/ carries the Narva number.

Jeff included a useful diagram, note #4 is what you're gonna wanna get at:

Well, the local Audi dealership was decent enough for what I needed.

Thanks for the info though, that helped a ton.

Got the bulb for $3.00 [sm=smiley20.gif]
