Flexpipe is bad - downpipe moves freely and is held up by part of the underbody. I need the portion from the turbo to the cat, right? it has fitted pieces on each end that bolt in, right?
Can I use a 42 dd downpipe as a replacement? basically - what is the difference between that section on a 180 and a 225? I have a ko3s, but i have a factory dual exhaust (yeah its factory as my vin indicates.. i know 180's have singles... i dont get it either).
or... would i need the "OEM Downpipe Assembly ES#6297 $374.27" from ECSTuning (or somewhere cheaper)?

a custom built one would be cheaper and you can get it in 2.5" or 3" and gain about 10+hp. Also no, the 225's have a differnt turbo and outlet flange so it wouldnt fit.

well, I need a comercially available option because insurance is paying for it. I can go aftermarket or oem.

Ask them if they will give you $350 or something less to have one made. As of now no one makes a dp for the 180q and paying $375 for a stock peice is just not right.

well, is the cat different on the 180 vs 225? i mean, my dp on the 180 bolts right up to the 225 catback. Or.. will i need to replace all the cat, too?

both have twin cats, but the turbo has completly differnt turbine housings and location of the flange(ko3(s) 4bolt facing down, 225 3 bolt out the side) so if your thinking ofusing a 225 dp, again, not going to work.
You could also get a 42dd 225 dp and sell it for the funds to get one made.

well, insurance is paying for the part though, and the shop needs to actually fix the car. Where can I get the 3" ends so I can have them possibly make me a downpipe. He said he is willing to do anything, but it has to have a cat on it. He said he was looking at parts and was quoted ~900, so i'm not sure what they quoted him on. I thought the stock DP was ~325.

Thats a fwd dp, wont clear the haldex. Most customes i have seen are around $400 with a cat, find a shop to make one for near that and tell insurance you will pay the differance. The 180q is a bastard child in the aftermarket, very little is made for them. Let them know that.

drats. I dont think having a custom job is an option, at least according to the shop. They need to order the part and perform the installation. If there isnt a comercially available DP or something they cant mod at the shop, then stock it is.
