Here's an interesting question. Say the valves and head are all messed up... what other heads could i put on the engine? Engine code is AMU. I've been looking at AEB, etc.

AEB is the only head that would be an improvement. It's the only large port 1.8T head.

If my belt took a dump I'd say screw it, replace the pistons, sell the shortblock, chrome the head and keep it as a mantlepiece then swap in a turbo VR6.

Just me though.

AEB only goes up to 2001 AMU was for export only due to immisions

VR6 is a cool engine but to replace the 1.8t 225hp would mean less BHP even the 2.8 cant compete against it

Does that mean that it would or would not work??

Also, is there a predetermined amount of teeth on the timing belt that go between the tdc marks? That would help a lot!

no but it would need a full rewire and ECU and the other bits like key chip/door locks/ignition ( might as well buy a new car ) its a good mod for the older cars though because they can modded to hell but USA emissions don't allow this im told

I didn't mean the whole engine... I just meant the head. I was reading that it ispossible on the AMU to put an AEB head.
