Why do you say stuff like that?

ORIGINAL: Wikipedia

In the mid 1960s Chevron U.S.A was the first to market and produce a complete range of 100% synthetic Polyalphaolefins based lubricants, which began to be marketed as a substitute for mineral oils for engine lubrication. Although in use in the aerospace industry for some years prior, synthetic oil first became commercially available in an API-approved formula for automobile engines when standards were formalized for synthetic based lubricants.

Other early synthetic motor oils marketed included NEO Oil Company (formally EON) in 1970, which were dibasic acide esters, or diesters, and polyol esters based synthetic lubricants, and still today use these high end foundation for lubricants. In 1971 All-Proof now called Redline; followed fourth by Amsoil who packaged and resold a diester-based 10W40 grade from Hatco in 1972, and then Mobil 1, introduced in North America in 1974 (with a PAO-based 5W20 grade)...

...MOTUL introduced the first semi-synthetic motor oil in 1966.

It is suppose to be great oil. I wouldnt spend more than $6/qt for oil personally. Dont know how much it retails for.
Cincy, where you been? You can't find any synthetic (unless it's walmart 5 qt jug) for under $6 a quart any more.
Mobil1 0w40 is $5 and some change, Castrol 5w40 is about $0.10-.20 cheaper.

Not around here (Mid-Atlantic). Sometimes you can catch a sale, but normal pricing is around $6.50/qt.

I just think that you should be a little more accurate in what you state as an absolute, even if you preface it with "I think." Being "Tech Certified", people expect accuracy. A simple 15 second search using Google proved that Motul did not invent synthetic oil. Even Wikipedia references Motul's own website. You could have said "Motul was an early pioneer of commercially available synthetics" or something like that.

If you say too many inaccurate things, you lose credibility.

Glad i dont have a Tech Cert so i can make a mistake now and then. Didnt know that oil release dates were that import to get correct when it comes to fixing/tuning these cars. [:-]

That's like Al Gore saying he invented the Internet.

I guess because I work around law enforcement and lawyers all the time, I'm too quick to throw the "Bullshit" flag.
