Budget is 10K....but I don't want to put all of it into engine..I've thought about a turbo kit from Pagparts...he seems to be really reasonable, compared to APR and others...just not sure if his kits come with all i need...I know they come with injectors and he can provide a FMIC and rods if necessary, but I'm not sure yet..a turbo kit sure would be easier though, and I would STILL throw the w/m kit on
What kind of power did you plan on making? You can get a pagparts kit in just about anything you want. Depending on the turbo, depends if you need rods. You can make great power on stock rods and the lower 225 compression. A gt2871r .64 like APR and more power can be made on the stock rods with a t3t4 50trim. The gt kits will be in the $5k range and the t3t4 kits will be in the $3500 range. That will get you everything you need to bolt on and get going. But you will still need a catback and clutch also. But if you go with a gt turbo, i would go bigger since it wont cost much more for a gt3071 or gt3076r but they both will need rods along with the gt2871r if you want to run race gas or w/m with plenty of boost.

if you go BT you will need the following.

for a stock motor.

Pagparts turbo kit WITH Turbo on or around 2190$ + shipping depends if you go DBB or Journal Bearing. (** remember this is Downpipe, injectores, oilfeed/return lines, Turbo intake pipes*** ready for a large cone/shroom filt. gaskets, manifold etc.)
Software 850$ installed but you ship pag your ecu, software loaded and sent back to you. if your ecu is stock EVEN BETTER!
FMIC - go tcarbon save the $$ put that $$ somewhere else, remember still far superior than stock.
BM-get something cheap to save cash if you need to otherwise go with Apexi - Super AVC-R or Profec B Spec from GReddy.
VAG+ W/M-- these two go hand in hand, W/M w/o VAG is just a waste of cash. if you are tight
Exhaust- go to locat shop, save your $$$ go aluminzed too. save your $$$
right at this point you are looking at a range of 3.5-4 Gs. WITHOUT labour. but, consider what you listed you wanted done , all the labour to move the parts being replaced would have to be touched if you were not replacing them (ie .. if you want to get the exhaust and DP installed then they have to unbolt from turbo etc, while your there why not remove the turbo,, while your there why nbot remove the TIP, while your there why not install the fmic... etc you get the point)

Forge DV ... look on tex ... used not used.. .really they are very durable. but also cheap.

based on his response to initial BT idea, sounds like he is really not into doing internals, pple like us are called crazy until all 4 tires are spinning and they are getting burnt tire on their paintjob [8D] or for you will be 2 wheels but still kicking dirt lmao [8D]

but, i think if he wants to add body kits etc, which is my guess as to what he wants to do asthetically, + a few CF accents in the cabin which are huge $$ for what they are worth i could be wrong ... ... 10kbudget also has to account for labour. i think he will be happy around the 3500 or less range + labour. or you can always go k04-001 if you want to waste cash but for 1k + SW could be an option for him if he chooses to splurge large. (not my choice but out there for you)

oh cr@p ... using my one tip mind again.. oh well scarp the k04-001... just scarp that,

Your welcome to come and have me show you up any time
i would rather show the 2tips how its done than squable amongst a minority

still think that 3.5k or less is what will be a turning point for him, *by the sounds of it* which minus labour should still allow him to have the $$ for the asthetic mods + labour +paint if they are body kit parts. ... and always the best hidden cost is SHIPPING .. oh yea gotta love it. (maybe cuz im in Canda and the border gets mad when i get stuff tax free)

Labor is no problem...it will be next to nothing, actually-my next door neighbor and good friend is an Audi Tech, so besides any internal engine work, labor won't be much $$...so I'll be comfortable spending about 4.5-5k on parts, including rods (I'm assuming we're talking connecting rods here), stg. 3 clutch, extra fuel pump if necessary, etc..NOT counting brakes and suspension..with the power I may be producing, a bilstein coilover may do fine, and pagparts says he can give me a custom brake job just as good as anything else to save me money-I don't feel like paying extra bucks to foot Brembo's advertising bills!

You will need some scat rods if you get them (yes connecting rods). They are $350 As for brakes, I have wilwoods which are basically the same size as stocks but have a 4 piston caliper and 2 peice rotors. This works so very well and is cool to the touch in mins. I spent about $750 in total for them since i sold my stock brakes on ebay for $250.
