Misfire & Smell of sulfur
okay, i've done my searching... i've read a few things but I'm going to ask anyway.
My '03 225 is @ 103k. Tonight I was on my way to a buddies place and all of a sudden I lost power. I thought it was limp mode but wasn't quite sure. I thought, "well, it's storming like heck (Dallas, TX)... maybe I sucked up some water."
So, I'm going from 3rd to 4th gear and it is just crap. I pull up to a light and it's misfiring like crazy. Luckily I was only a few miles from home. I also noticed that it had a strong sulfur smell.
I just pulled it into the garage to take a look under the hood. I couldn't see anything that looked out of place. The engine was still misfiring but the sulfur smell seemed to have gone away.
I'm pretty bummed right now.
In the morning, I'm going to pull some codes (oh yeah, engine light is on). Hopefully this is a plug / coil pack problem.

Sounds like a pretty typical case of a bad coil pack. Unburned fuel from that cyl is dumping into your cat making it stink. Pick up a new coil and make sure your plugs are good so it wont happen again right away. scan will probably clue you into what cyl its on or pulling the coils one at a time till it runs more smoothly can work too.

Yeah, it was kind of hard avoiding the water here on Saturday. It was coming down like crazy.
Turns out, I was misfiring on 1 & 3.
I replaced all 4, along with my spark plugs.
All is good now. What a scare!
