Misfire/Flare Between 3rd & 4th Gear
Hi!
Model: Audi TT Roadster 1.8T 2003 Tiptronic
About 9 months ago, I was having an intermittent gear flare between 3rd & 4th gear only. The valve body was replaced and the problem went away for a while. BUT...Since April 2005 to date, the flare has re-occurred and no one at Audi can fix it. They have even replaced the entire gearbox, tiptronic switch and all associated cabling between tiptronic and ECU.
The car is still under warranty, but Audi can work out what is causing it. They're claim is that it can not be a mechanical fault.
The flare seems to occur when changing from 3rd to 4th at approx 2,200...Revs then fly to 3,500-4,000 then drop back to where it should be when you gear up.
It is so intermittent that is causing the greatest grief in proving that it is happening! Eg. It has flared 7 times in the last 6 weeks with approx 2,000kms clocked up during this time.
Sorry for the long entry, but this is fault really driving me crazy!!
Has anyone experienced this or know of a possible solution?
