MAF differences.

RE: MAF differences.
The MAF in a 180 is smaller than the MAF in a 225, which I think is 3 inches. I switched to a 3 inch MAF but just used the sensor from the 180 TT which is AWP and only $99 and it works good. So maybe the $$$ difference is in the size. SO is bigger better?

Bigger is better.. up to a point. But you shouldn't run the 225 MAF in the 180, the bore is too large. Take a look at the Modshack site, Steve spent a lot of time testing and logging different diameter overbores of the MAF's for the ****. I've been running the 180 **** on mine with a 4bar FPR with no issues. When he was going through the testing stage RoberTT was his guinea pig, they went through several iterations before finally ariving at the optimum size.

I had bought one from Steve and still have but went to the 3 in when I put the GT2X turbo in which came with a slightly bigger intake, not much but it got ride of the metal intake with the hard bend. So Im not sure if the 3 inch is still too big but I think I will swap them out sometime and see if things change. I am still running a little rich right now but I think that might be cuz I cant get my boost to 23 psi untill I fix that small leak between the turbo and throttle body. I can only seem to get to 19 psi right now.

If you've got a boost leak you will definitely run rich. A lot of times you'll only find the leak when the system is pressurized. Tough to find them just by tightening fittings.

I guess I will have to see how much it would cost to have someone do the test for me. I dont feel like I would be able to do a good test by myself. And Im sure its a small leak cuz I can get to 19 psi but no higher and I should be running around 23 psi. Thanks.

Steve's Pressure tester is pretty easy to use. As long as you have access to an air compressor all you need to do is plug the PCV hose and pressure it up. You can get the tester compete with regulator and gauge for $70.

RE: MAF differences.
Anyone actually following this thread (the real topic) I got an answer back from ECS today. The $200+ MAF is direct from VW/AUDI and the $99 is direct from the manufacturer. Both are made by Bosch so that $200 diff is a nice markup by VW/Audi.
And props to ECS because that actually recommend I purchase the $99 version. I always thought sales people were to upsell more $$. Atleast I do in my everyday job.

They probably make more money on the $99 MAF than the $299. You'll probably notice on the $99 one that there isn't an Audi logo on it, more than likely you will see that it has been ground off.
