im pretty sure the sensore comes out you need a weird tool tho
Torx25 probably...whichI have I have never seen a car use Torx25 as much as this car does.
The MAF screws are security type screws. Regular Torx will not cut it. But Vice Grips will

How do you clean the IAT ?
I've searched around for that..

The maf is easy to clean and its a good idea to do so a day or 2 after refreshing any oiled filter.

Its also a good idea to pull your IAT (intake air temp) sensor and clean that as well.

A littlecare put into these cars and they will reward you greatly.

My car pulls so hard lately and its quiet too which is nice. I still get a miserable rattle at 2700-2900rpms though.

Smile The Right Way

This is a response to the guy who said he may have been able to clean his maf instead of replacing it. I am an auto technician and my teacher taught me that there are two kinds of mechanics. The good ones diagnose problems and try to clean parts before replacing them. The bad ones are simply part changers.

You should always try to clean parts that can get gunked up, and the MAF is one of the best I can think of to do. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL over CRC. You can go to almost any parts store and they have CRC MAF Cleaner.

Any part that involves a sensor should be taken off, examined, volt tested, and cleaned before replacing. You could spend 6 bucks on a can of cleaner vs 200 plus in repairs. Again since sensors only sense readings and do not incur any wear and tear I would find it hard to believe that they ever go bad. I have had 8 different cars and have never replaced a MAF in any of them.

I would say that before you replace any sensors besides 0xygen sensors that you try to clean them with the correct cleaner.

Default Security Schmecurity

Sorry to double post but..... If you have tamper proof torx screw and want them to be just torx, especially on the smaller sizes, just stick a small flathead in the bolthead and twist. You can break away the security part and have easy access to tamper with them. I have done this on my xbox360 wireless controllers to clean them and it works wonders. Most of the security torx bits can be removed by angling a flathead inside the bolthead and against the middle pin and turning the correct way as well.
