They are at the end of their lifespan and if they are still ok, they will be working harder and go bad faster. New stock replacements should be fine with a modest drop of an inch. Just not something you want to do twice. If money is tight, at least do the fronts since the rear shocks are a easy to swap.

Running Neuspeeds Sports with Monroe Spec Sensatracs. Seemed to be pretty good. The Struts/Shocks are new though. Pretty stiff compared to stock.

Moderation in lowering, because THIS:

Leads to THIS:

And I pulled that oil pan right in the hooters parkinglot, and after welding it, reinstalled it at night during a thunderstorm. FFFFUUUUUU......

The Neuspeed only dropped it about 1.25". Not near as far as achTTungs. It has at least 4" of clearance. Madmax also did a huge right up on suspension and spoke about how going too low will make it handle worse.

i just installed eibach pro kit about 1" lower, and new koni FSD shocks + struts, did rear myself alignment shop did front with 4 wheel alignment, even doing yourself you need an alignment, even if you get plain jane struts and shocks your better off with all new parts. update VERY nice car handler better and a nicer ride, although 37xxx on stockers 11yrs takes its toll, car used to thump when i hit a rough spot, not any more, labor is same to install any setup even if your stock almost stockers go back on
