Loud noise at 70-80mph...
Hi guys,
2000 TT 1,8 T Quattro 71K
I have another problem with my TT ( had it 2 weeks and so far am not happy )
I already ask for help about blinking lights on my dashboard, and now i have a bigger problem.
Right after i bought it i realize that my back bearings or suspenssion is making weird loud noise when driving between 70-80 mph, but only when i keep my foot on acceleration pedal, if i let go and drive on neutral noise desapears.
So i went to the "german auto" shop and was told that thats bearings.
I had them change for 420usd front and back.
And looks like i spend money for nothing becouse the noise is still same.
Am not happy with this car, i got also 98 A6 2.8 with 114K and never had to spend any $ for fixing anything except service.
I wonder if this is just mine TT like that or not
please help me on this

Sounds more like its driveline related, are you sure that you have oil everwhere it should be? (gear oil in tranny, haldex oil in quattro unit, ect.)
You're kinda vague on the noise it makes, do you think its a sound un/under lubricated gears would make, sorta like a whirring sound?

I checked and didnt find any leaks or singh of leak, i will go again to german shop and ask for checking tranny and driveline like you said.
It's hard do explain the sound - its all the time same loud, i compare it to an aircraft engine.
Can't explain better - my english is not to good yet

Whats your native language? I see you're profile says you're in Texas, so I would guess you were mexican, but then looking at your name, I wouldn't think so, that doesn't look like any hispanic name I've seen.

First thing I would do is go back to "German Auto Shop" with the Audi estimate sheet and tell them they diagnosed the problem wrong in the first place and show them what Audi said the problem was. Then try to get them to cut you a deal on the repair since they had you spend money you didn't need to... That is if you still trust them to touch your car.
