losing power at acceleration on 2000 tt
When I am accelerating, especially going up hill (5-speed), the car seems to hestitate a few times then it goes back to normal. It doesn't seem to matter what gear I am in. I was wondering if it was the timing belt/chain or the fuel injectors or fuel filter. Other than that the car drives very well. I think I got some bad gas a few months ago and it has been doing this ever since. What simptoms are noticed when the timing belt is going bad?

Forgive me for hounding this, but how many miles are on your car. I noticed a loss of acceleration a few days before my timing belt went. Have you ever had it changed? May be worth looking into. When did you notice the power loss? Where you doing any high performance runs with the car earlier? (Racing off the line? hard downshifts into corners?)

The car has 64K miles on it. This has been going on for approx 3 months. I though it may have been due to getting bad gas so I approached it from that angle. However, it did improve but did not go away. I was just driving normal freeway speeds. No excessive hard accelerating, no inappropriate down-shifts, no hard curves. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have never had the belt changed since the normal maintenance was still a good ways off. But ever since it read this, I have been petrified. This really worries me especially since Audi does not want to admit or take responsibility for known failed parts. I also had to replace the instrument cluster about 6 months ago. Do you have any idea what the cost would be if the belt or sub-components of this assembly were replaced before it goes bad? I'm losing sleep over this.

I wouldn't do much over 60,000 w/o changing the belt. Either pay $270 now (if you do it yourself), or possibly $5000 if you wait and the belt goes. Im at 66K, didn't realize the importance of getting it done at 60 until I started seeing all these posts about trashing engines. Quit driving my car until I get the belt in (hopefully here tomorrow). Regardless of teh cause of your loss of power problem, I'd take care of the timing belt.
On a lighter side, any idea if you've lost boost?

u got dv on ur car? if u do, check it. my friend had the same problem before, and it killed his turbo. but it gave him a good reason to upgrade ko3 to ko4 tho.
