They have systems that use magnets to hold on frames. I wouldn't drill it.

I live in SD, and I bought my car in MN. - You'll find you have to do it. - Our cars around here attract attention. - Not may people drive TT's . - I think in Sioux Falls, - which has a pop now of 200k'ish - They'res maybe only 10/15 of them... mostly old people.... none with tinted windows...haha. - That noted they draw eyes... from random people to cops.... the cops will snag you for it. - The did with my benz. - Buttfaces![:@]

Oh man that really bites.

And of course it's a convertible, and red, so that won't attract attention amidst all the Volvos and Priuses up here.

I might try the magnets first anyway just to see how long I can get by. Do I have to order the kit or are they available locally, do you think?

Drilling isn't really that big of a deal, not like it will rust or anything. Plus it's easy to fill if you should ever find the need to do so.
Also, who's really going to see it? My main concern would be the license plate scratching the bumper, which could also happen with magnets!
Look for one of these black bumper protector plate holder thingy-ma-bobbers! Only requires you to drill 2 holes instead of 4.
My guess is you're local Audi dealership has a few laying around.

You should just move to a state that doesnt require a FMLP.

Keep it how it is until you get a Fix-a ticket...
See how long you can get away without havingit.
Some places are very strict with the front plate, others won't even blink.
