I would think all you would have to do is custom build a pipe from the SMIC to the FMIC. The SMIC will cool the air down some as it goes into the FMIC which will then cool it even more. Ive never heard this done but it shouldnt be to hard. Now the questio would be does the SMIC really cool the air enough to make it worth it to keep on the car. I dont know. But with my FMIC my temp guage sits at the first click left of mid range until I really run it hard then it moves to the center. But after a few minutes of normal driving it goes back left one click showing that my engine is cooling down good.

You guys are funny! No, you cant use an upgraded smic for a 225, no you dont want to use 2 intercoolers/ one side and one fmic. You will have massive restrictions and flow would suck. You can run one much larger core than the 2 together and get far better cooling and flow than to stock/aftermarket peices. The BF! (boostfactory) intercooler for the 180 is good upto ~400hp, that is far more than some of us will ever get to. Also, the airflow is directed to the core and has shrouds to force the air through the smic. So if you have a 180 fwd/awd and want steath, low cost, unblocked radiator, or cooler temps the BF! smic is the way to go.

now has anyone actually bought the BF SMIC upgrade and fit in in their TT? Ive contactrf BF before and they were not sure if their SMIC fit the TT.

If anyone has actually bought this and put it in their car, Im probally going to go with the SMIC aswell.

Talk to paul or chuck there. They are both great guys and will helpyou out. Chuck even made a special turbo manifold for my car. Just tell them it is for a 180 and make sure you get the right size map sensor flange. Yes they will fit, the 180's have the same ic and ic piping set up as all fwd vw 1.8t's.
