Default It Just Died

So I'm driving down the road in my 2000 TT Quattro and the engine just dies. Radio's still on, lights still on, heater working, but power steering is gone and engine won't catch at restart attempts. Coast into a parking lot, initial impression at restart attempts is the engine is not getting fuel. Last month at 60K service they worked on fuel system - sending unit had broken and was replaced. After driving it home from the dealer, fuel was leaking out of the fuel tank, had it towed back, they said they hadn't sealed the tank properly. So I'm thinking they didn't do something else properly either. Checked fuses, they're all OK, has 3/4 tank of fuel so it's not out of gas, starter turns over with ease. Of course, being Christmas Eve the one Audi dealer around here is closed for the next three days. Anyone have any ideas? [IMG]

Jeez, you may want to consider finding an independant Audi mechanic, that is expensive as hell.

Only one Audi dealer in this city, other dealers 120 miles away. In general, even the European specialists around here don't want to touch a TT. They don't see 'em very often, they're not easy to work on, and you need special tools for even the easy things like changing oil. When my glovebox handle broke for the second time (first time covered by warranty, second time was about $600 for a new box as you can't buy the latch, you can only get a lock/latch by buying a new glovebox) I checked around to see if any of the people around here who claim to work on Audis could fix it, and was unsuccessful. Didn't shop around with the fuel pump issue as didn't know what the problem was for sure and thought it might have been related to the work the dealer's service dept had recently done.

I've changed plenty of fuel pumps but never on a TT. Nevertheless, $600 is an astronomically high price for the work.

Changing the oil is no big thing. Somebody has been feeding you a pile.
