Hey everybody... I just bought my first Audi TT. Its a 2001 225 hp with 71K. I got it from ebay for 11,750(good price??)

Anyways.. I am in Nebraska and the car is in Miami. I have read all of the timing belt stories, and I am planning on driving it from Miami to Nebraska next week. Is it going to make it?

If it goes on you then it's gonna cost you way more to have it fixed, than the price to have it transported, does the seller know if it was replaced at 60k or see if you can get service records from Audi.

Miami.....no problem.....you can trust everyone in Miami. Seriously......get as much info on the car as possible. It's a long drive to Nebraska, and the last thing you want is for something to happen and leave you stranded somewhere in Alabama.

 

l would go so far as to do your research on good shops in the area and spend an extra day before driving back to have it and other service done on your car.
I flew to Salt Lake to pickup my TT. No issues coming back to Seattle, but the belt had not been done at 93K.

An extra day may save you $$$$ and headaches of being stranded on some country highway.

 

It's gonna be luck of the draw, I would have to agree take your time and have the car inspected by a certified VW/Audi shop, not some regular mechanic.

my car had 99k on the origanal timing belt (its getting replaced as part of the turbo upgrade)

personally I would check fluids and drive it back to have it replaced at a local shop but then you do run the risk of becoming stranded

 

Ebay? I've NEVER heard of a mint car being sold on ebay.... get your car checked out asap. Atleast change your oil, ect. The money you saved on ebay is going to be spent in repairs. TRUST ME! I've sold cars with flood damaged, rolled back odo's (carfax was fine), ect. Do it right and get the fluids and maintance done.

 

Ebay is not all bad just have to ask the seller alot of questions my friend sold his monte carlo SS that had the super charger swapped for a turbo kit with time slips showing it ran 13.5's consisantly
