Default Intake Questions?

I got a $100 gift certificate from Evo-MS during Worthersee (yeah free money!!!!!!) and was wondering what to do with it. I can buy some nice driving shoes/gear or buy a intake. I do not think that $300 for the intake is the best way to go. So, can I get a Beetle 1.8T or Jetta 1.8T intake to fit? There is a pretty nice unit on Ebay right now and I just want a little hp and some shiny stuff under the hood (too stock looking now...) Any input or ideas for cheap and effective intakes?

Thanks all!

Swiss cheese it! It's free, Does just as much as any other intake, and it's free!
I did it and don't regret it one bit.
(This means drilling 8-10 holes in the bottom of your airbox with a ~1.5" holesaw.

Just look at my sig, the stock box is fine with a few holes in the bottom. Get yourself some nice driving shoes.

If you REALLY want a intake, go here and get the same style of intake as Evoms but w/o the box. Best flowing setup out there.

I already Swiss cheesed the airbox and de-screened the MAF, but I need some hood bling.

I dont understand why people ruin a maf thinking they are getting better flow. The screens are there to smooth out the airflow and give a better reading of the incoming air. If you want the "bling" with performance, head to the link above.

I did not remove the flow straightener. That is ridiculous to remove. after the flow straightener is a metal screen that cuts off about %10 of flow through the MAF. I kept the plastic guides and removed the screen after the MAF sensor hot wire.

~just my .02 though.

Skip the driving shoes unless you actually track the car often. You'll look like an idiot (ahem... schwing) if you walk around in Piloti's off the track, not to mention, much like race tires, race shoes have little/no traction on anything but dry pavement. I doubt you'll be able to heat them up and get them sticky either ; )

I have a pair of limited edition Puma race shoes that were given to me by my Turkish Rally friend, I wore them around for a couple hrs just to get a feel for them, and they've since been retired to my closet for approx a year now.

get the intake.... personally i cant see how a tiny screen restricts 10% of air flow... its not even a 1/4 inch thick
