I had bought the TTDA a long time ago too for my 02 TT but with the new TT I have only put in a drop in cuz I beleive like some are saying that the temps dont really matter too much. A few degrees colder going in will still be super hot coming out the turbo so Im not spending $$$ on one this time.

A question I have had for a while is, If you go with a big intake what happens when it gets to the turbo which is still only about what 2 inch opening? Will the extra flow cause a more powerful force going into the turbo which spools it quicker?

Temps mean something, just not everything. Its about 200° ambient under the hood, you can't tell me that temp increase isn't affecting your intake charge.

A little heat shielding, and a bunch of airflow, over just a bunch of airflow, thats my plan.

Until i see undeniable proof that his intakes are better than say, evoms or p-flo, I dont buy the BS.

I'm not saying HIS intakes, im saying intake charge temperatures in general.

You'd use a phenolic gasket to keep the intake manifold cooler, why wouldn't you extend that thinking to the rest of the intake?

The turbo is going to take the intakeair to about the same temp regardless of where it started at, and then the intercooler is going to cool it to whatever it can, regaurdless again, of whatever the intake took it in from. The heat from the exhaustthrough the turbo and the heat generated from compressing the air is just to much.

As do I, but I still wasn't talking about Steve. My plan was to build something 'similar' to what he did, as an example. Onethat concentrated more on flow, but still touched on heat shielding. I didn't really think that far into the temp changes the entire intake system goes thru. If I'm gonna be spending time thinking about these things, and potentially some money, I guess theres better things to work on.
