Default i need to buy an ecu...

Hey guys, im going with a new chip but i was told that revo or unitronics stage 3 would be my best bet.
I have a GIAC 93 chip on my right now and i believe its sadered in there instead of flash. I was told that i can't do **** with my ecu unless i send it somewhere because they would have to bring it back to stock for it to be able to be flashed.

So i havn't pulled my own ecu yet cause i don't know how, but its a 2001 TT 225.

My question is what chip do i need really for a BT setup?

i haven't been able to pull my ecu yet cause i don't have the special star tool you need to unscrew it. Is there any other way to tell what type you have by car model code? If so my code reads ATQ

i dont think so man, maybe via vag-com. others have used vice grips to rotate them out, or just go to autozone, they have some security torx bits, depending on the star pattern (ie five or six, mine had six but i needed 5 :-P) also, you could slot the screws with a dremel or something and just a a regular screwdriver

You don't need a Torx bit to get it out of the car.

Check APR's website, it has probably the best instructions. I think Jeff Bipes has a writeup too. Let me just say it's a pain in the *** at first. Btw, you don't need to remove the wiper, it just makes your life a bit easier.

The gist of it is, you remove the weatherstripping in the engine bay near the windshield, peel up the rain tray, remove a little panel that blocks off the cabin filter, remove one of the ECU harnesses, pry the living crap out of the bracket that holds the ECU (this is the biggest pain, it takes a while to pry until you can get it out), then you remove the other ECU harness once you have it out some of the way. Good luck
