Im thinking about ALL these perfromancemods for my car and so far ive got these things on:

mbc
intake
bov

+

sending my ecu for an apr chip or inmotion (still debating) or giac or p-chip (neuspeed)
downpipe (already ordered)
Stage 2 snowperformance kit (water/meth injection)
test pipe (already in progress at the shop)


But now i need to know how much hp + torque my stock clutch can handle because that means i would have to upgrade pretty soon (i drive a 1.8T roadster 2001 audi tt) to stage 2 (might as well since stage 1 is only up to 275 hp max) and wouldnt there be problems with the gears setting in?

what else would have to upgrade, lets say if i ever did reach 300 hp ... just what if

 

It's less of a "Horese-power" thing and more of a "Torque" thing... Our cars can handle quite a bit of torque (up to approx. 260ft.lbs.), but the clutch won't last long. More torque and hard pulls will create wear and you could be replacing a clutch after very few miles...I'de say anywhere after 260hp and 230ft.lbs torque, you should jump up to a stage 2.

I'm excited to see those gains you get! Just a DP and cat-back exhaust system produces pretty sweet gains, but toss a chip and meth into the mix and you've got the makings of a street monster.. [sm=gears.gif]

 

wow really up to 260 hp ... hmm i guess I would have to dyno the car to get the torque but yea im getting excited. I'll probably post up a video after its all done. Have you ever heard of the inmotion chip... it seeems like a new company and a few vdubs at vortex have done them and are satisfied .. plus almost half the price of most leading brands ... but gess thats why im so skeptical.. but yea hope to buy the chip by next week

 

you have a FWD version?

 

Stock clutch should handle the stock turbos max power. Plus you wont have hp being more than tq with a koX turbo. The peak tq is way to early for that to happen

Shouldnt unless you find a way to increase the power beyond reason on a ko3

 

between apr chip and exhaust and stage 2 turbo it took my clutch out in about 5 months and had to upgrade. If im lucky that car is doing about 260 hp.

 

Whats a stage 2 turbo?

TQ kills rods and clutches. Guessing if you had 260hp you had atleast 300ftlbs and that would easily kill a stock 180 clutch
