Default how to extend the range of your keyless entry for audi tt

ok so i have an 01 audi tt , put new batteries in it, still only about 10 feet worth of service to lock / unlock or put the windows up/down.

i know about the chin thing for an extention but it doesnt work that well.

ive been searching on how to extend my antenna on the car for my keyless, and maybe extend the strength of the keyfob itself.

Thx

It all depends where the "brain" for the alarm is located.

Personally I dont know where its located and my tt also gets horrible reception, you can try calling the dealer they just might let you know where its at ???

negatory. ECU has little to do with it. Key fob works on FM reception, which is more or less line of sight. This is why you get terrible radio reception in mountains, parking garages, etc.

I know on the 99-ish A4's the antenna was actually under the rear seat. Hidden under a seat, down below window level, and therefore shielded by sheet metal. Range could be increased quite a bit by routing the antenna up the C pillar, or across the rear window.

I have my rear seat out, haven't really paid much attention to wires there, according to some audiworld posts, its the same deal.
