Default How do you take the gauge cluster out?

I wanted to take the gauge cluster out of my TT, becuase I think there may be a bad connection behind there, what do i need to do to get it out, I have a 01 tt 225. Is there screws or clips that i need to undo?

Default RE: How do you take the gauge cluster out?

take the fuse panel cover off the driverside of the dash, theres I think 5 torx screws, remove them. Theres 2 more at the lower edge of the lower dash (what your knees hit against) those come out too. The whole lower dash should be able to slid out now, theres 2 clips at the top edge that hold it in place, so pull out at the top first (pull towards back of car). Once thats out, move your steering wheel down and out as far as it goes. this gives room to work. I think theres 2 more torx screws holding the bottom edge of the cluster in, before you take them out, pay attention as to how that fake leather dust shield that straddles the column fits in there. Once they're out, push in at the top of the cluster, it should start rotating back. Theres 2 clips that hold the top of teh cluster in place, once you see those clear the top of the cowl, or whatever you want to call the sun shield lookin thing over the cluster, you can pull it out aways. You should have access to the wires at the back of the cluster now. Its a lever style connector that holds the harnesses on, you'll understand when you see it, I don't have any good pics of them.

If you're interested, and have highspeed internet, I tore apart an instrument cluster. Probably not relavent to what you're doing now, but interesting anyway. http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1392014.phtml
