How Do You Know If A 2003 225 TT is a VVT Car?
I've been drooling over the APR Stage III+ turbo kit for my car. I won't be able to afford it until late next year or the beginning of 09', but I was reading the price list and saw that in 2003 they made both VVT & Non-VVT 225 TTs. I don't have the Bentley manual yet for my TT. Is there a way to tell if the car is VVT by any other means than the VIN?

I found on AudiWorld.com a posting that shows which engine is which. If the cylinder head has the codeAMU on the lug on the drive belt end of the head then it is a Non-VVT engine. If on the other hand the code is BEA then the car has a VVT engine. My car is a VVT car. Nice to know and it explains a little as to why the engine seemed a little more responsive then other 225s I've driven that were older cars. I thought it was my imagination, but guess not.

vvt is NOT a performance item like vtec or vvt-i. It is ONLY used at start up and for emissions. Still not sure for the 225's, but for all the VW's and 180's, the vvt all have wideband o2's and the non-vvt are all narrowband cars.

I don't understand why then the dyno numbers for the APR Stage III+ kit have higher output for the VVT cars. What would be the differentiating factor?
