How do you change Transmission Oil ?
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if someone with a Bentley Manual could possibly send me instructions on
how to change my Manual Transmission Oil in my 01 225HP TT Coupe?
I will invest in my own Repair Manual as soon as I have recooperated from my recent TT purchase
but for now I just would like to do some maintanence on my own.
I hears that Redline MT-90 or MTL would be the best Transmission oil to use in our 6 Speed transmissions.
Just need to know how to drain and install it properly.
Thank you for any help you guys can send me.

RE: How do you change Transmission Oil ?
Say it isn't so? How can a fluid last for the life of the car? That sounds somewhat far fetched but it's not the first time I heard it.
But I did see some sites that they changed the fluid to Red Line MTL or MT-90 fluid which is suppose to protect out brass Synchros better than
the stock fluid. But they didn't mention on how to change it.
Must get hold of one of those manuals.

Okay, it is not sealed and yes you can change it. Seems I have to answer my own posts
Anyway, you drain the tranny oil by the 17mm Allen drain plug and you can fill it with 2 Quarts of
either Redline MTL or MT-90 Tranny fluid via the Speedo Sensor plug on top of the transmission by
the firewall. It can be identified by a 3 cable plug. Just use a Transmission funnel and put in 2 quarts and you are done.

Not sure but I think the tranny fluid normally should last at least 60-80k miles. I don't think Audi stresses it too much but I would feel better to have clean fluid in there every 50k miles or so. I am putting in Redline Mt-90 and see what happens.

RE: How do you change Transmission Oil ?
Actually, I did some Exploratory investigation under that plastic guard thingy and found that the Oil is really very easy to
change once you get that plastic monster of a splash guard off. The drain plug is right there and the Oil filter can be reached with
a socket type wrench and a swivel socket wrench. The Intercooler tube is kinda in the way but it isn't too bad if you have the
right tools.
Also the Transmission fluid is a cinch to change. It actually takes a 14mm allen tool not a 17inch as I was told and the drain plug is
in plain sight and the filler hole is on the side and again easy to get to. The hard part is getting the fluid back in and you will need something to pump it in because there is no way to get an angle on the bottle to pour it in.
