HKS Sequential BOV conclusion
So i've read every article on BOV on this forum for the past week and you guys keep mentioning the HKS sequential BOV as a 50/50 blah blah blah. I want the sound w/o hurting the performance of my car, and I still want the same gas mileage and I have a stock 225 2001 quattro. You keep mentioning Forge, but i'd rather put something HKS in my car for personal preference because they are a good brand here in the US. So what advantages or disadvantages does the HKS have over Forge or vice versa. Am I safe to buy the HKS sequential for the VW jetta 99-2004 specific for my TT or not?

RE: HKS Sequential BOV conclusion
same kit as golf/jetta
forge 004: cheaper and sounds better, but cant be recirculated
hks ssqv: unable to leak, can be recirculated, but twice the cost of the forge and the whistle gets annyoing after a short time.
neither will hurt the car/performace
btw, i run the twin piston forge. Baileys and samco sport also have nice ones that would work but both cost more than the forge.

^ oh yas cinc. i threw on the ol Forge 004 with the new silicone hose for an hour... it was better, but then again it stalled on me at the intersection and at times the idle would swoop below 500 rpm. am ireleasing too much air?

RE: HKS Sequential BOV conclusion
Make sure its staying closed at idle, you might need to change springs if so. So yes, releasing air than going to idle will make the car stall if its still open at idle.

RE: HKS Sequential BOV conclusion
you may want a firmer spring. you should send patty@forge a pm (that is if he is still around) about the springs. I know there is about 4 forge people on vortex that would get back to you quicker.

RE: HKS Sequential BOV conclusion
People in my car club are saying that having a 50/50 valve (HKS sequential) will throw off my ECU because that is 50% of air not being recirculated back into the intake. They are telling me that I should be throwing a CEL and running rich if i were to get this valve. Is there any comment or truth to this and please explain yourself!! I want to buy something more reliable that has my psssh sound and will not cause my car to run any different. is there any hope???

tell them [sm=icon_blah.gif]
As long as the valve is closed at idle you will have no rich issue or stall (i have said that about 100+ times now. makes sense why i have so many post, i just repeat myself). I have and continue to run a full bov for a very long time now with zero issues. The air is made up by the valve being closed at idle.
