Guess I'll Post and Say Hi
New TT owner here. !!!!
I just remember driving my 98 Jeep GC one day and looked down and saw one of these and couldn't take my eyes off of it. Every happen to ya?
Anyway, few years later, got one sittin my garage. 2002 225 45k Droptop.
I drove 88 miles to get it (and nearly lost my poor 79 year old mother as she drove my other car back -got disorientedcoming out of dealership). Got it in Indianapolis and had a chance to "stretch it out" on way back on I-74 in between State Trooperspulling other cars over (It was an empty road when I did it). Amazing. More amazing isits handling on hills and corners (southern ohio). I had an Opel GT once as a kid and this new one took me back to those days.
I got a great deal on it (4k below book) but missed a few things in the excitement of the purchase. I crazily thought heated seats were on all ,,,but not this one. It said "heated passenger seat". Was that a misprint? So I have cold leather black seats. However, it has Navagation which the dealer people didn't know or understand what it was. Great! but, **** busted on Nav unit in console (looked like previous owner super-glued it!). Disks included too. Battery was dead at dealership but that didn't deter me. They suggested price drop to cover it which suited me.
Still reading manual and figuring it out.
I really liked the FAQ and the rest of this forum as it definately helped me pick one out.
I think it would bea good idea for the FAQ to include warranty info and standard/optional accessory info for new buyers.
I thought I remembered 4 years 50k miles? If so I have 6 months warranty left from inservice date.
Waiting for the roads to clear before I take it out again. ho hum.
regards,
Alan

RE: Guess I'll Post and Say Hi
Welcome aboard, mate!
Indiana - now there's some flat land for some flat out driving for sure! Was stationed at Ft. Ben Harrison back in '89 for about 4 months for training. Indianapolis looked like the Emerald City on the way in...
Enjoy the new ride - you'll love it once you mod it out [8D]

Thanks,
Thanks,
Thanks,
Thanks,
Well I checked out the past receipts on the car, interesting, most of the bad stuff got replaced already (Gauge cluster , water pump, and few other electronic things). kool. Seems to have been serviced regularly by owner #2.
I am bumbed about the Nav systerm though. As I looked closer, I noticed that the **** that was broken was SUPER-GLUED and it looks like glue got down in the switch. [:@]Somebody with low intelligence got near the car it looks like and I will pay if I want it fixed I guess.
Replacing the battery myself was a tussle, but got it done after searching helpful advice on here and around. I'm a mech lightweight so I guess that factored in as well. I stuck a 9V battery on the cig lighter so I wouldnt lose settings so I wouldnt have to mess with resets.
O well, the rest is good, and life is good.
