Default gt2871r or gt3071r

My birthday is in June and i spent some time really looking at my options for my 21st birthday. I was debating on buying a new tts or sticking with my 02 225 roadster and doing some serious performance modifications. I decided after running some insurance quotes and the way the economy is I would be smart to stay away from a new car for a couple of years. So I decided to go big this summer but i need advice. I spent some time doing research and have decided to go with rods and pistons, intercooler, 3" dp, complete engine tune up and timing belt/water pump. The question is wether i should go with a 2871r or 3071r turbo. I have heard some good things and bad things about both but from what i hear the 2871r is the most common. From what I have heard from friends is that you never fully max out the turbo. I spoke with the shop i go to and they said i would be pushing close to 500hp with either but im not sure on that. what do you think?

to push 500hp your audi would need way more then what you listed lol.
Umm i have the 2871r turbo setup, i still need injectors and a new tune then i can easily get over 320hp, but as with a built engine you would still need a new tune no matter what so if you get everything you mentioned, plan on getting a tune(chip) because all your upgrades would be for naught.

This is what i did to a modded prelude

and here is a video of my current upgrades i think lol

If you want 500hp its vr6t time For driveability get the 2871r (~350whp), for slighty more lag (and 50+hp) for the 3071r. Check out infinityman on Vortex, he just build a 3071r BT that puts down 403whp

the shop you go to said you would be pushing 500hp with a gt28??? i prob wouldnt go there anymore... At a minimum turbo size you would be a 3071r or a 35. Plus you would need more on your to do list for you car to handle it.

If you wanna make your engine stronger. Do what you listed PLUS bore your heads out to 2.0, new bearings, better cams, injectors, coil pack,. With the 28 turbo and good tuning you should be close to 400hp over 375hp I'd say. But if you get this far with your car, 500hp is just around the corner

^there ya go;-). Uumm not much more you would need to do to go from 400-500. After all that the engine will withstand 500+hp. just get a bigger turbo.manifold. Maybe throw a lil w/m kit.

damn after 400hp i don't think i would even want to drive my car around town anymore lol, talk about ruff riding, your damn car wouldn't know the difference between coasting and *****-2-the-wall lol. If you plan on doing those kinda numbers just make it a track car.
