Generator light just came on HELP!
Ok so I am driving home tonight and my generator light (aka battery) light game on. I turned off my car and it was acting like it was trying to start but would not. I let it set for a while and then it started. I made it home but my windsheld wipers were laboring all the way. I did not turn on any other items in the car. The light came on again while driving home but then went off. When i got home and turned it off and tried to start it again it would not start.
Has anyone else had this issue?? i want some options before i take it to the dealer if i can even get it there. The manual says to check your v-belt to see if it is broken but i have no idea where a that is even located or i would. Does anyone know where the v-belt is and what i am looking for?

RE: Generator light just came on HELP!
I second that.
Mine was fine thru 99.9% of my car repairs last fall, and on the last day the shop had it, they went to move it and only made it across the shop floor. They'd started/moved the car more than enough times to drain the battery if there was any question of the accident somehowdamaging the alternator. Checked voltage with vag-com and couldn't get more than 10v with the car running, and I could watch that drop. It quits like flipping off a light.
BTW
V-belt = serpentine belt, left side of the engine as your standing in front of the car with the hood open, scratching your head. ; )
