FYI - Bringing a TT into Canada from US

RE: FYI - Bringing a TT into Canada from US
So from what I have read;
There is no duty to be paid on the vehicle.
GST & RIV fee paid at the border.
PST paid at the insurance agent.
Daytime running lights sounds straight forward.
Bumpers - does anyone have a recent quote on cost? (parts, install, & paint if needed). I would be inclined to have the bumpers done to avoid problems if in an accident or if I should sell the vehicle down the road.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks from a newbie to the site and a wannabe TT roadster owner!

GST/duty ($100 for air conditioning)is paid at the border, RIV fee paid at the border (if they accept payment, depends on the customs office) or on-line @ RIV.com or by mailing in the fee...make sure you declare the value of the car properly or you may get nailed with an undervaluation penalty...and you may also have to pay higher tax based on MFN (most favoured nation tarriff) if the customs officer knows/finds outthat the carwas made in Hungary...
PST is paid at the time of plating at the licencingoffice. Ensure you have your inspection form stamped from the inspection shop, blue customs form B15(tax/duty receipt) and RIV white form copy when you go to get plates...
The bumper quote was about $4000 for my car, I did the day time running light mod myself.

well, you cna get the car in the coutnry you just cant get it to pass safety unless you do the bumper mod.
one way is fake receipts and lies. another way is go to the dealer and pay. either way, you can always go shop to shop until a mech writes you a receipt for a safety that will say he replaced the bumper. that is enough for ontario ministry of trans.
DTRL, you can just take out the light switch, take it slightly apart and rig it so that the "off" keeps the foggies on. works on 2 friend's A4s and an A6, when you get your plates and emissions sticker you can put back to normal, note** not all cars came with DTRL in canada so the ministry has no set fines or tickets for such a violation in Ontario
in other words there is no ticket for no DTRL .
once your car is deemed ok by the ministry then you wont have a problem agian, even if you sell it, when it goes for safety no1 is going to check the bumper rule, they wont even know !!! besides you think all those rice rockets with body kits meet bumper laws??? hellz no, but they are selling every day so think about it,

Thanks for the reply qwikslvr
My biggest concern is the added cost to do the bumper mod and the cost of duty. Are all TT's built in Hungary? if not, can you identify the assembly location from the VIN? is there a more favourable assembly location than others and would that locatation have a bearing on duty?
I bought my boat and trailer in the states, so the border/RIV thing is straight forward. So the big question, are you saving enough money by going to the states for a car?
