Default fuel pump noise?

so I'm hearing some noise from the back end of the car. It's a kinda intermitent "thunk" "thunk" noise. I'm thinking it's fuel pump because of the type of noise and location. It almost sounds like an old school retractable antenna. Anyone else hear this from the drivers seat?

Trouble starting as in not attempting to start but never turning over completely, or turning the key and getting nothing at all and no attempt to start?

There wount be enough fuel pressure to start the car. If it was dying, it may take longer to turn over, then not after a while

havent seen to many pumps die. the only one i know that did was murder's since he ran out of gas.

....guess i need to stop running my gas tank nearly empty every time.
i knew it had the possibility to damage the cats, but not the pump

the fuel surrounding the pump keeps it cool. constantly running your car near empty lets the pump get hot, and CAN cause it to **** out on you eventually.

intermittent clunks are more likely to be fuel sloshing against/around the pump/sender(s).
Do you usually notice it immediately after you come to a stop?
